Framed botanicals, am I the only one who thinks they are absolutely dreamy!? A few months ago I saw Jenna Sue frame some greenery from around her house as bathroom decor. I absolutely loved the idea! Last night we were out on a walk when we passed by a tree with gorgeous leaves, I immediately knew I had a project on my hands!
I already had the frame and matte, but I didn’t have paper that was large enough to fill the background. So I decided to use some leftover muslin fabric for the background instead. I folded the fabric instead of cutting it, in case I want to use the fabric for a different project down the road.
One recommendation, frame the greenery as quickly as possible. My leaves sat on the table for 2 hours before I could frame it and they started to wilt a bit. I probably should have placed it in the refrigerator to keep it fresh until framing it. If it will be more than a couple hours before you can frame the plants, try placing your plant in a ziploc baggie with a bit of air breathed into the bag. Then keep the baggie in the refrigerator until you are ready to frame!
Here it is hanging in my entryway. I usually have a sweet little picture of my girls hanging here, but this is a neutral and free alternative until our house is sold. Even after our house sells, I might have to buy another frame for my girls’ picture because this leaf is so darling!
What do you think of the muslin backdrop? I love the soft texture that it adds. If you make one of your own, I would love to see pictures! Send me an email with your photo, or a private message on Facebook or Instagram!
